Yvonne Michelle (James) Daniels

Born to Matthew Caesar and Vassie (Barkley) James, Yvonne began her journey on this earth on November 18, 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Yvonne, or “Bon-Bon”, confessed her belief in Jesus the Christ, as her Savior at an early age and at age 14, was baptized by Rev. Melvin Jones at the Jerriel Missionary Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Her brothers and sisters gave her the name “Bon-Bon” because of her glowing, sweet personality, and gentle spirit. Yvonne attended elementary school at Winton Terrace Elementary School in Cincinnati, Aiken High School, and graduated in 1984 with honors from Crispus Attucks High School. She attended Morris Brown College from 1985-86 but relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana.

Yvonne, along with her mother, united with St. John Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Andrew J. Brown, where she sang in the young adult choir. She worked in various capacities as a professional unit secretary from 1992 until 2001 for Wishard Memorial Hospital, IU Hospital and most recently, Indianapolis VA Medical Center. She was united in matrimony with Kevin Leroy Daniels in August 1998. Most recently, she served as a Program Support Assistant from 2001 until 2011. Yvonne was previously a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Thomas L. Brown and recently a member of Eastern Star Church under the leadership of Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson Sr.

Yvonne enjoyed listening to classic old school R&B and gospel music. She dearly loved her four children: Kevin Jerod, Ta’Kia Yvonne, Keland Lamont (fiancé Dea’Jenay), and Ta’Kaun Lee Daniels; her two grandchildren, Terrance Jr. & Kelahni and a host of family and friends.

On December 9, 2021, our mother, aunt, sister, friend, and child of God, Yvonne Michelle Daniels crossed over from this shore to the next and transitioned from earthly life to her heavenly reward. Left behind to honor her legacy are her sisters and a brother: Valerie, Desiree (Racie), Doris, Betty, Romona and Byron Sr.

She has reunited with her lifelong friend and husband, Kevin Leroy Daniels; her mother, Vassie Lee James; father, Matthew Caesar; sister, Melanie “Me Me” James; and her brothers, Wesley “Butchie” James and Reginald “Duffy” James.
