Willienne Denise Pruitt

Willienne Denise Pruitt was born November 6, 1962 in Gainesville, FL to Willienne Washington and Sylvester Pruitt, Sr.

“Niecy”, as she was loving called by family and friends, moved to Indianapolis in 1979 and united with Greater St. James Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the choir.

She graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1981.  After graduation, Niecy started her career at the United States Postal Service and spent most of her career at Mays Chemical Company.  She was known as a person with a heart of gold by her coworkers, family and friends.

Niecy was a beautiful person inside and out. She had an infectious smile that touched the hearts of many. She loved children and her family. Niecy was a wonderful mother, a loving daughter, an endearing sister, a faithful friend and a dedicated child of God. She touched the lives of many and loved spending time with her family and friends. Her memory will be treasured forever. Niecy was most proud of the very special relationship she had with her daughter, Candice.

Willienne Denise Pruitt departed this life on Friday, August 5, 2022. Her father, Sylvester Pruitt, Sr.; sister, Angela Williams; and brother, Sylvester “Bubba” Pruitt, Jr. all preceded her in death.

Denise leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted daughter, Candice Garnett; a loving mother, Willienne Washington; five brothers: Ernest Brown, Joe Brown of Gainesville, FL, Kenneth Whitehead (Cassandra) of Atlanta, GA, Thaddeus Pruitt, Sr. of Gainesville, FL and Richard White (Teresa) of Gainesville, FL; four sisters: Teresa Gilbert, Bernice Pruitt Wilson (Demetri) of Gainesville, FL, Allie Hobdy (Leon) of Gainesville, FL and Debra White of Davie, FL; three Godchildren: ChiQuita Gilbert-Williams (Jermaine), Martez Ratcliff and Maiyah Ratcliff; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
