Willie L. Berry "Slick"

November 25, 1960 — April 13, 2023

Indianapolis, IN

Willie Lee Berry “Slick”, the son of Mamie L. Berry, was born on November 25, 1960 in Anniston, Alabama.

He moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1974 where he attended Coleman Middle School and Arsenal Technical High School. Willie enlisted in the United States Army in 1978 to further his education and received an Honorable discharge.

Willie was baptized at Greater Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Phillip J. Carroll.

He worked at Thomas Skinner as a machinist. Willie also enjoyed working as a private contractor on various landscaping projects in both Terre Haute and Indianapolis.

Willie enjoyed listening to music and fixing things. Landscaping was his passion. He always had a smile on his face showing his pearly white teeth. Most importantly, he was big on family no matter what, right or wrong. Willie was the life of the party. He loved to laugh and crack jokes on just about everyone. He never gave up on anything once he started. He was a very proud father. He loved his children and would always brag about how proud he was of them and their accomplishments whether they were big or small.

Willie Lee Berry departed from this earthly life on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the age of 62 years old. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Bobby Berry, John Berry and Kenneth Gamble Sr.; and the mother of his children, Sheila Frieson.

Willie leaves to cherish his memories: his children: Toccaria R. Berry (Tony), Pierre D. Frieson, Michelle L. Woods, Devon Manuel Sr., Ebony Berry, and William Allen; grandchildren: Anthony C. Williams, Dajuan B. Leavelle Jr., Ka’Mya Manuel, Derric V.
