Willene Yvonne Davis was born September 21, 1954, in Mound City, IL to Louis and Elizabeth Davis.
As a young child, Willene and her parents relocated to Mount Vernon, IL. There she received her elementary and intermediate education. Willene graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1972. She furthered her education at Rend Lake College of Nursing where she received a nursing license. She worked for many years at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, IL.
Willene later moved to Peoria, IL where she continued her nursing career serving with excellence and care.
Lastly, she made her home in Indianapolis, IN where she held several jobs before retiring in1998.
Willene loved to read all kind of books, play cards, listen to music, dance, play bingo win the game and scream her favorite phrase “Pay The Lady!” A cold slice of watermelon was never out of the question. Willene was blessed with four beautiful children that she showered with love and kindness. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Grandma” and filled her heart with pride and laughter.
Willene made the most important decision that one can ever make; she professed her hope in Christ and accepted His saving grace.
Willene Yvonne Davis answered her call to rest on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family as she crossed over into eternal peace. Her father, Louis Davis and sister, Joyce Davis preceded her in death.
Willene leaves a legacy of love and faith to those who love her: children: Adrian Davis, Shanrika Wattley (Raymond), Laron Davis (Aisha) and Terry Faint (Ashley); mother, Elizabeth Davis; siblings: Louis Davis, Marvin Davis, Ronald Davis, Sheryl Davis, Brenda Davis, Dora Davis, Janice Howell (Darry) and Terra Davis (Anthony); fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
