On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, our beloved “Old Man” Wayman ‘Sig’ Davis, passed away at home at the age of 89. Wayman, the youngest of 4 siblings, was born on July 20, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Oliver C. Davis and Mary Bell (Coleman) Davis. Wayman graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, served two years in the United States Army during the Korean War, and worked as a Supervisor in the Vehicle Operations Department for United States Postal Service for 35 years. Wayman married the love of his life, Brenda Berry, in September of 1989 and until his stroke in 2018, they spent their time traveling and having the time of their lives.
Wayman is known for his good natured sense of humor and willingness to help and serve others. Wayman is especially beloved by his daughters, Rochelle Ware, Levetta Reed, and Montoya Jones; 5 grandkids, 11 great-grand kids, and a host of nieces and nephews. Wayman enjoyed bowling and attending Pacers and Colts games with family and friends.
Wayman was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Idella Strickland, Mary A. Cargile; and brothers, Frank T. Coleman, and Oliver H. Davis.
