Walter Van Franklin Morrow III

WALTER VAN FRANKLIN MORROW III, was born on December 9, 1948 in Keysburg, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Walter Jr. and Julia Mae Morrow. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Ricardo. The family moved to Indianapolis in May of 1957 where he attended elementary school and Arsenal Technical High School. At an early age, he professed hope in Christ uniting with College Avenue Baptist Church.

On December 31,1967, Walter was joined in marriage to Brenda Roberts and to this union three children were born.

Walter enlisted in the U.S. Army and was Honorably Discharged due to a knee injury while going through basic training. Upon returning to Indianapolis, he worked at Western Electric and ended his employment after three years. He then enrolled in the Indianapolis Skills Center for training as a Machinist and was hired at Allison Transmission Division of General Motors. After 33 years, he retired. He was also a member of UAW Local #933.

Walter enjoyed golfing, shopping and was an avid listener of Jazz and Blues music. He had a playful spirit, loved to laugh and crack jokes and was affectionately nicknamed “Bumstead” by his friends.

Walter was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He often enjoyed family time and shared a special relationship with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Walter departed this life on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 17 days and leaves to cherish many wonderful memories with his son, Kurt Morrow; daughters, Tracey Brooks (Sidney) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Wendy Morrow; eight loving grandchildren: Shayla Morrow, Kenya Morrow, N’Dea Brooks, Shaniah Morrow, Sidney Brooks Jr., Alexis Brooks, Kurtis Morrow and Kingston Morrow; two great-granddaughters, A’lani and Alaeyah Jones; brother, Anthony Morrow of Phoenix, Arizona; beloved aunt, Sarah Franklin; his former wife, Brenda Morrow, a devoted friend who supported him throughout his illness; and a host of loving relatives and dear friends.
