VICTOR (VIC) CHARLES BRELAND was born in Holloman, New Mexico on April 12,1951, to the late Rudolph and Ethel Jean Breland. Vic, being the oldest of his siblings, lived throughout the U.S. and across the globe as a child of a military family.

When he was young, his family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. Vic accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He and his brothers attended Second Moravian Church in Indianapolis and were active in Sunday school and the youth programs. As he grew older, he served in this ministry on the Board of Trustees. Vic was an avid Bible reader. The following scriptures provided guidance to him during his walk with Christ: John 8:12; John 10:9. Vic attended IPS #69 for elementary school. He then went on to attend Arsenal Technical (Tech)High School. At Tech, he excelled academically and athletically. He was awarded the Industrial Electronics certificate and was selected as the class secretary for his senior class. He was a member of the Men’s Football, Track & Field and Wrestling teams. Earning the accomplishment of a record holder in Track & Field and a member of the 1970 sectional and regional champions. He graduated from Tech in 1970 with the distinction of the Tech Legion and Vocational Award. He also earned the DeWitt S. Morgan Scholarship for Civil Service, and a football scholarship to attend Wabash College. He continued his education by receiving a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana Business College.

Vic was a very diligent and committed worker. He believed in hard work and being punctual. He served in several leadership and managerial positions. He worked for the Indiana Department of Public Works as an Office/Field Supervisor. He was also assigned to oversee their summer youth programs. He worked for the U.S. Postal Services and successfully completed the U.S. Civil Service Commission instructor training. He worked in the area of Food Services in Indianapolis, IN and Atlanta, GA, for over twenty years.He most recently retired from this field after working for the MSD of Warren Township. Vic was also a proud member of the Army National Guard, serving in this role for 13years. While in the Army National Guard, he went to officer’s training school and became a Second Lieutenant.

Vic married Iris (Russ) Breland in 1974, and they had two children, Gary and Sharice Breland. They were married for 25 years. Outside of church, work, and family, he enjoyed the following: reading the Bible, drinking coffee (while reading the newspaper), watching sports (especially college and NFL football), attending sporting events, and walking. Vic was also a very proud “Grandpa” devoting much of his time with his grandchildren.

Vic was called home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2025. Vic is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Ethel Breland Bullock, and his stepmother, Elana Breland.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory: Iris Breland; son, Gary (Cassandra)Breland; daughter, Sharice Breland (Robert) Booker; stepfather, Melvin Bullock, Sr.; brothers: Rudolph Breland, Jr., Steven, Sr. (Theresa) Breland of Atlanta, GA, Kenneth(Brenda) Breland, Rev. Mark, Sr. (Diana) Breland of Lancaster, PA, Angelo (Connie)Breland of Smyrna, TN, James Breland of Alaska, and Melvin Bullock, Jr.; honorary brothers: Rev. Dea (Vanessa) Robinson, Emory (Phyllis) Robinson; brothers-in-law: Rev. Eddie (Rev. Lena) Huntley of Montgomery, AL, John Russ; sister-in-law: Veronica Minor; grandchildren: Jaymon Epps, Jayla Breland, Krystofer Breland, Farrah Breland, and Javon Grandberry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
