Lieutenant Deputy Constable Timothy D. Jelks Sr. was born in Hurtsboro, Alabama, to Theotis Jelks Sr. and Joann (Chatman) Jelks on November 11, 1963.
The Jelks family relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, where Tim attended Indianapolis Public Schools #41, #42 and he was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School, Ripple Rocket for life.
Tim accepted Christ at a young age and attended Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the children’s choir and the youth group.
Timothy was kind, loving and never met a stranger. He married Karen Birdie on August 27,1994, and later married Monique Slauter on June 10, 2000. To their union, one son, Timothy Jr., was born
Tim was a Police Officer for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and Sheriff for the Indianapolis Sheriff’s Office. In his spare time, he was a Sales Marketing Representative for Angie’s List from June 2013 until his untimely passing.
Lieutenant Deputy Constable Timothy D. Jelks Sr. departed this life on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the age of 60 years. His parents, Theotis Jelks Sr. and JoAnn Jelks, preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his legacy to his son, Timothy D. Jelks Jr.; God-children, Karlie, Destiny, Kaden Jones and Brent Ferguson; brothers, Theo Jr. (Allison) and Patrick (Garla); sister, Stacy King; aunts, Rosie Beard and Geraldine Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
