Teresa Ann Green

With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the remarkable life of Teresa Ann Green, born on November 30, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama, the cherished youngest child of Leola Brooks. At fourteen, Teresa moved with her family to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she began a life filled with warmth, generosity, and joy. Teresa graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and went on to get her associate’s degree from Ivy Tech.

Teresa’s devotion to God was the foundation of her life. She became a member of Mt. Carmel Church on March 20, 2005. Her family was the heart of her happiness, giving her purpose and joy. Her home was a place of open arms, where everyone was greeted with genuine love. She had a gift for transforming spaces into havens of comfort and beauty, making everyone feel truly at home. Her gatherings were legendary for their laughter, delicious food, and the sense of belonging she created for all who entered her door.

A woman of many passions, Teresa was known for her green thumb. She nurtured vibrant gardens that brought color and life to her surroundings, and she found peace and happiness among her flowers and plants. Her gardens were not just a source of beauty, but a place where family and friends could gather, share stories, and enjoy the simple pleasures of nature. Teresa’s flair for dressing was another reflection of her vibrant personality; she delighted in expressing herself through her elegant and creative style, always presenting herself with grace and confidence.

Music was a constant companion in Teresa’s life, filling her home with joy and comfort. She especially loved listening to her favorite singer, Diana Ross, whose timeless voice, and uplifting songs brought her happiness and inspiration. Whether she was dancing in the kitchen, singing along with family, or simply relaxing to the melodies, music was woven into the fabric of Teresa’s days.

On December 24, 2025, at the age of seventy-seven, Teresa departed from her earthly life and is now resting peacefully with her eternal Father. She was preceded in death by her mother, Leola; sisters, Ruby Freeman, Sarah Lewis, and Carlene Craig; brothers, Lee Steele Sr., and Anthony Steele; nephews, Herbert Freeman Jr., Lee Freeman, Kenneth Spells and Ricky Steele.

Teresa leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughters, Cassandra Davis-Brown, and Relia Manns; grandchildren, Dominique Davis, Michael Nelson Jr. (wife Krystle), Mitchell Nelson, and Dewayne Brown; great-grandchildren, Mekhi Nelson, Skylar Nelson, Dylan Davis, Mariah Nelson, Michael Nelson III, and Donovan Davis. She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and many special friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.

Teresa’s legacy is one of love, hospitality, and joy. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family, her welcoming nature, her creative spirit, and the beauty she brought into the world—whether through her gardens, her sense of style, or the music that filled her home. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, inspiring those she leaves behind to cherish each day, nurture their own passions, and share love freely.

As we say goodbye, we honor Teresa’s life by carrying forward her example of kindness, her zest for life, and her belief in the power of family and friendship. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire us all.
