Tabitha Elizabeth House

December 9, 1948 — November 13, 2022

Indianapolis, IN

Tabitha Elizabeth (Wilson) House was born December 9,1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana daughter of Reverend Frank James and Charlotte Claude Wilson.

Tabitha attended Indianapolis Public School #56 and received her High School Diploma from Crispus Attucks High School in May of 1968. She later pursued and obtained certification to administer medicine as a Qualified Medicine Aide and to also provide nursing care as a Certified Nursing Aide.

Tabitha was employed by Alpha Home Nursing Home for 30 years where she enjoyed caring for the residents before retiring. After her retirement she occasionally assisted in providing nursing care to elderly patients in their homes. Tabitha loved and cared for her patients like family and often spoke about them long after her workday was done. She believed in treating them with dignity, respect, and love. She possessed a strong work ethic and was committed to giving high quality care.

Tabitha was a PK (preacher’s kid) therefore she was introduced to Christ early on in life and was later was baptized into the Church of Christ. She enjoyed membership at the Central Heights Church of Christ. Tabitha loved to sing. Although she lost her full use of her voice due to an illness it did not stop her from singing praises during church services before her health issues hindered her from attending services. When she could no longer attend services, she enjoyed regular visits from some of the dedicated church members who were committed to visiting her to offer words of encouragement and administer communion. Her visitors often believed they were coming to lift her spirits up but quickly found out it was her that would do the encouraging and uplifting.

Tabitha believed in enjoying the simplicity of life. She appreciated the little things in life because she understood that many things others may have taken for granted were really reflections of the bigger things. She was not shy about letting you know she would not complain about what she did not have but was most grateful for the things she did have. She would tell anyone she had a conversation with, “Life is Good”. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, completing her word search puzzles, coloring and watching her favorite television programs. Her quiet nature left others with the impression she didn’t have a lot to say but if you asked her the right question or approached the right subject, she would engage in good conversation and enlighten others with her quiet strength and wisdom.

Tabitha was called home on November 13, 2022, at the age of 73 years 339 days old. She drifted peacefully into her final rest while listening to her some of her favorite gospel music. Preceding her in death were both parents Reverend Frank James and Charlotte Wilson, brother Donald Wilson and daughter Florence House (infant).

Tabitha leaves to cherish precious memories three daughters, Regina Bacon (Edwin), Dorthea Herbert, and Charlotte Ruffin (Juan, Sr.). Seven grandchildren, Franklin Herbert, Paul House, Jendaya Herbert, Lawrence Herbert, III, Juan Ruffin, Jr., Elijah Ruffin and Imani Ruffin. Two great grandchildren, Aniya Herbert and Franklin Herbert, Jr. and a host of family and friends.
