Shelley Leigh Dobbins was born June 8, 1968, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Barbara Marie Dobbins and Robert Leigh Dobbins taking on her father’s middle name. She was born with dark eyes, dark hair, bright red lips, and light pale skin. By the time she had turned one, her hair had turned to a sandy brown color and eyes turned green.
Shelley spent her entire childhood in Indianapolis and accepted Christ at a young age. Shelley attended Hardcourt Elementary School, Westlane Middle School, and North Central High School in Washington township. She went on to attend Kaplan University where she completed the 2-year medical assistant program. She went on to work at St. Vincent’s Hospital as a Dermatology assistant for many years.
Shelley Leigh Dobbins, 57, departed this life on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital after a brief illness. Her parents, Barbara Marie Dobbins and Robert Leigh Dobbins; brothers: Michael Swarn, James Ball, and Richard Ball; sister, Nancy Dobbins; grandmother, Dorothy Chappell; grandfather, Warren Stanley Jones; and uncles, Stewart and Gregory Brown, all preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons: Eric Dobbins, Erin Dobbins, and Evan Dobbins; her children’s father, Eric Jenkins; grandchildren: Eric, Zyshawn, Bentley, Elaina, and Eliza Dobbins; sister, Dana Dobbins; brother-in-law, Anthony White; aunt, Sheryl Chappell-Leavell; a host of nieces and nephews including: Spencer Venable, Trevor White, and Moriah McCain; loving family and friends.
