Sharon Louise King

Sharon Louise King was a native of the Haughville area, lastly residing on the far Westside. She departed her earthly dwelling on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, age 68 years with the love of her family surrounding her. Sharon L. King was born on September 26, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the youngest child born to her parents, Edna B. King and James King Sr. Sharon attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Washington High School. Sharon was a dual retiree, retiring from Emery Worldwide as a Supervisor and after 35 years of service, she retired from UPS as a Supervisor in 2023.

Sharon was the life of the party and the hostess with the mostest! She made every guest feel at home. Her vibrant, unforgettable, caring, loving, and affectionate personality made her easy to love. She was undeniably a boss! Independent and successful in her own right displaying how a woman can do it all on her own.

She had impeccable taste and style that others wanted to emulate. Her many talents included gardening, cooking, decorating, and styling her own hair and nails. You can be sure her outfit was on point and her hair was going to be laid! She could rock any hair color, cut it to her own liking, and style it like she just left a salon. A fresh pair of sunglasses, a fan, and a margarita in hand were her staple accessories.

She was deeply loved by her family and friends. Sharon was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She instilled her wisdom, love and support into her family. Sharon enjoyed hanging out with her daughters, grandchildren, and family. Love, laughter, and dancing always filled the room. Anyone amongst her presence would be asked immediately, “Where the music at, we need some music!” She loved a good concert. Sharon was the “favorite” aunt and cousin to many. She was a selfless woman, always just a phone call away or the person you could count on for anything. She never encountered a stranger and captivated the attention of everyone in any room she stepped in! She loved cutting up to her jams like only she could with a two step and wind up, or her famous imitations of just about anyone she encountered.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Edna King and James King; and siblings, James “Smooch” King and Fannie Maudell King.

Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Tramika S. Jackson (Marvin Sr.) and Tara S. Burris (Jeremy); grandchildren: Shalon English(Lebretha), McKynzie Eubanks, and Marvin Jackson Jr.; siblings: Gary Phillips (Sybil), Juanita “Mimi” King, and Laura C. King; nephews: Steven E. Miles (Nichelle), Daion L. Calhoun, Gary Phillips Jr. (Rosie), Garrett Phillips, Eric Jethroe, Jonathon King, James Johnson, David Goff and Justin Goff; nieces: Anika Phillips Banks, Demetria Phillips, Mary Goff and Elisabeth Armour; special cousins: Norma Hodge (E.J.), Andrew (Pam), John (Tiffany) and Jesse Dearman; a host of other relatives including great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
