Today we celebrate the beautiful life of one of our beloved family members. Sharon Elaine Jenkins was born in Selma Alabama on June 22, 1951, to Charles and RichardTine Barber. She attended Indianapolis Public School #56 and is a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. Sharon loved children and after school went on to become a preschool teacher at the St. Peter Claver Center where she worked for many years.
In the early seventies Sharon married her long time sweetheart Larry Jenkins and moved to New York. There they welcomed their first and only son, Larry Jr., after which they returned to live in Indianapolis. Sharon was a devoted wife and mother and it was clear to all who knew her that her son Larry was her pride and joy.
Sharon appreciated all that life gave her. She enjoyed music, playing cards, spending time with family, and her beloved Shih Tzu, Buddy who was always by her side.
Sharon departed this life on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Jenkins Sr., brothers Richard and Timothy Moody, father Charles (Billy) Barber, and grandmother Lucinda Lewis.
Sharon is survived by her mother, RichardTine Barber, loving son Larry Jenkins, sisters, Patricia Coleman, Elizabeth Guynn (Paul), Phyllis Canady (Irvin), brothers, Reginald (Stan) Moody (Fanetta), Anthony Barber (Geraldine), and Dyral Barber, granddaughter, Brooklyn Jenkins, daughter in law Danielle (Niecy) Tripplett, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sharon will be dearly missed by all.
