Robert Cornelius Sangster

With heavy hearts and profound love, we celebrate the life of Robert C. Sangster, affectionately known as "Bobby," who peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Born on February 20, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, Robert was the beloved son of the late Irma Dell and Thomas Sangster. He was the fourth of eight children and grew up in a close-knit and vibrant family that instilled in him the values of hard work, faith, and unwavering love.

Bobby graduated from Central High School in 1961 and soon after answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force. He proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1965, a chapter in his life that reflected his courage, discipline, and sense of duty.

On August 26, 1976, Bobby married his soulmate, Deloris Ann Thompson, and together they built a loving home filled with warmth, joy, and laughter. From their union came two sons, Ryan Christopher and Devin Armon, who were the pride and joy of their life. As a father and husband, Bobby was the epitome of devotion and strength whose love never wavered.

On May 4, 1983, Bobby and Deloris joined Light of the World Christian Church, where their faith deepened and their spiritual journey continued as part of a devoted and loving church family. He attended services regularly on “Row 5” until his health prevented him from attending in person, he then watched Sunday service online.

Bobby was known not only for his big heart but also for being an expert in the kitchen and a true artist on the grill. His culinary skills were a gift he generously shared, bringing family together through the simple joy of a well-prepared meal. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome, and his smile, wit, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Irma Dell and Thomas Sangster, his sister Glenda Dorsey, brothers Larry Sangster and Gregory "Grandpa" Sangster, and his wife, Deloris A. Sangster.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and family: Sons; Brent (Michelle), Briant, Ryan (Donesha), and Devin Sangster; Sisters Mary Catherine Sangster, Hilda Hatcher-Minor, Theresa "Cissy" Sangster, and Chalondis "Fatso" Sangster; Brother in law & Sister in law, Myron & Gwendolyn Hardiman, Eleven cherished grandchildren: Brent Jr., Brittany, Jordan, Briana, BreAnn, Bria, Briant Jr., Dorian, Trinity, Ryan Jr., and Rylee Sangster. Nine beautiful great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family who will carry forward his memory.

Robert C. Sangster lived a life full of purpose, love, and faith. He leaves behind footprints on the hearts of many and a legacy that will continue through generations. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit, his laughter, and his love remain eternally in our hearts.

"Well done, good and faithful servant... enter into the joy of your Lord." Matthew 25:23
