Robert Phillip Coe Sr. "Bobby"

ROBERT PHILLIP COE SR. passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 80. He was born on February 21, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Hollis Coe and JoAnn Whitfield who precedes him in death, alongside with two brothers, Wayland and Ronnie; sister, Gwendolyn; and three sons: Marcus, Ronald “Dude”, and Donald. 

Robert was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness. He was a proud graduate of Shortridge High School in 1963. He enjoyed playing basketball, bowling, and certainly loved cars. He also loved spending time with his family, and watching cartoons with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

In 1966, Robert began employment at Ford Motor Company and dedicated nearly four decades of service before retiring in 2005. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, uncle, and cherished as a friend. He lived a life rooted in love, faith, dedication, and he always placed family first, while offering kindness and wisdom to those around him. 

Robert is survived by his loving wife, JoEllen “Jodie” Coe; his children: LaVonda Castanon, Robert “Fatman” Coe Jr., James, Angelique, Dona’e, Erika, and Rodney Coe; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his aunt, Roberta Stepp; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Robert’s legacy is one of commitments to his family, faith, and love. He will be remembered for his steady presence, generous heart, knowledge, and the love he shared so freely with those who knew him
