Richard “Dickie” Lee Grady, Sr. was born on June 12, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to his parents, Howard W. and Naomi I. (Gibson) Grady.
He was a 1957 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. Soon after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served 8 for years. Richard retired from The United States Postal Service after several years of employment.
Richard was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Pacers and Colts. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, playing the lottery, and was delighted to play the slots at the casino. Anyone who knew Richard identified him as a quiet but caring and gentle being that had a calming influence on us all.
Richard Lee Grady, Sr., 81, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cherylene Scott-Grady; beloved son, Torrey Orlando Grady; parents, Howard and Naomi Grady; and five siblings, Howard Thomas Grady, Alice Coleman, Betty Lou Howard, Saundra Brittain and Jill Smith.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Alma Eleeta Wesley and son, Richard Lee Grady, Jr. “Ricky”; two grandchildren, Teryn and Devyn Wesley and one great-grandson, Elijah Drane; Siblings: James Grady (Ruth Ann), Joyce Grady, Leslie Grady, Sr. (Jeanette), Donna Tyler (Gerald), Sharon Foster (Leon), Dale Grady and Nicholas Ray Grady, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
