Reverend Alice Ann (Thomas) Smith was born October 19, 1944, in Troy, Alabama to Mary Alice (Clark) Pina and Kidd Thomas. She was educated in the Alabama Public School system and graduated from high school before attending Alabama State University, where she majored in Early Education and minored in English.
Throughout her life, Alice embraced many roles with grace and dedication. She worked as a model, served as a trainer for early in-home education programs, supported new parents through her work at Mapleton Fall Creek, and devoted time to being a homemaker. Her faith was central in her life. As an ordained minister in the Church of the Living God (Jewel Dominion), she served faithfully and was appointed assistant bookkeeper and receptionist at the National HQ in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Reverend Alice Smith entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Smith; brother, Anthony Pina, Jr.; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Phillips and Dorecier Pina; and nephew, Samuel Phillips, Jr.
Alice leaves to cherish her memory her son, Howard Smith; daughters, Nichole Renee Smith and Keisha LaVette Smith; grandsons, Sean Patrick William Smith and Donovan Braylen Smith; sisters: Alma Greene, Rosemary Bragg, Palmira Shelton, Maxine Pina, and Linda Pina-Morris; brothers Samuel Phillips, Lawrence Phillips, Frank Pina and Arthur Pina; aunt, Yvonne Kelly; uncle, Calvin “Bubba” Clark, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins loved ones, and friends.
