Rev. Gregory Lewis Durham was born on June 8, 1965, to Joseph Bunion and Mary Evelyn Durham in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Gregory attended Indianapolis Public Schools and was a graduate of Northwest High School and received his bachelor’s degree in communications from Martin University. Gregory gave his life to Christ at the age of eight years old and was baptized on August 26, 1973, at Mt. Paran Baptist Church under the late Rev. B.F. Sims. He was an active member of Sunday Church School, Baptist Training Union, Vacation Bible School, State & National Conventions, Midwest Youth Conference, Bus Ministry, Audio Ministry and Outreach Ministry. Gregory accepted his call into ministry and was licensed on June 27, 2001, by Rev. Dr. TD Robinson. He faithfully served as an Associate Minister of Mt. Paran until God called him from labor to reward on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Gregory was employed at AT&T for twenty years specifically in the Recent Change Memory Assignment Center where he was responsible for programming telephone lines with dial as well as adding features as requested by the customer. He retired from AT&T in 2021. Gregory previously worked at WTLC as a late-night radio personality as DJ Gregory Lewis. Gregory volunteered for CIRRI (Now IRIS) with WFYI 90.1 which offers closed circuit radio broadcast for the visually impaired. He also did voice overwork.
Gregory experienced health challenges over the years requiring him to have a pacemaker and defibrillator inserted. He was later placed on the heart transplant list and received a heart on April 2, 2024. In spite of health challenges, he enjoyed going to the movies, museums, stage plays, gardening, managed bees as a beekeeper on his own honey farm and bird watching. He also enjoyed cooking and baking and spending time with family. After his heart transplant, Kings Reserve 55 and over apartments became his home and was more than just a place of convenience but a place where Gregory thrived and participated by conducting Wednesday Bible Study, 4th Sunday Worship Service and actively participated in other activities offered.
Gregory was preceded in death by his father, Joseph B. Durham; mother, Mary E. Durham; grandmother, Mamie Durham; aunts, Ruth Cheeves and Theresa Lewis; uncles, William Durham, Sr. and G. Thomas Lewis.
Gregory departed this life on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the age of 60 years old. He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters: Wanda Lewis, Tanya Durham and Joanne Durham; nephews, Marcus Lewis (Brande), Cameron Durham (Ariel); great nieces and nephews: Aniya, Kaden, Kai, Stephen, Wesley and Daxton; aunts, Fannie Walker and Nancy Durham; and a host of cousins; Wendy West; a companion of 11 years, Bridget Gaines and her son, John R.L. Pendgraft; and his Mt. Paran Church family and friends.
