Randy A. Cheshier

RANDY CHESHIER was born in Indianapolis, IN to James Wadale Cheshier and Emogene Croom. Randy received his education in the Indianapolis Public Schools. Eager to serve his country, Randy obtained his GED in the United States Army. Randy served as a Hawk Missile Crewman and an Equipment Records and Parts Specialist. He served in the Army from 1979-1982. A year of his service was spent in Korea where he gained his love of the culture and Ramen.

He was a loving, caring and giving person. He welcomed anyone who just needed to get on their feet or a hot meal. Randys home, “The White House”, was a go to for Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys games or just a place to kick back and party. Randy took pride in being able to have a safe space for his family and his C-Boyz that was always full of love, laughter, good food and better jokes!

Randy had a special relationship with his family. It was as if it was his duty to keep his family together. That did not mean just his immediate family, that meant every Croom, Salton and Dennis. From helping organize family reunions and fish fry’s to Sunday basketball games at the park. Whatever his family needed him to do, he was there, no questions asked.

Randy had a special relationship with his C-Boyz. He always bragged that his mother gave him the boys and his sister, Tine the girls. He loved and bragged on his boys every chance he got. They loved him wholeheartedly! To many of them he was more than an uncle but a father figure. Teaching them about having good work ethics, to the values of voting, even navigating these cold hard streets. When it came to his C-Boyz there was nothing left on the table, it was always put out there. The good, the bad and the ugly Randy would navigate it through with them. He spoiled his C-Boyz and they spoiled him. Randy had a different relationship with each of them that will last beyond the flesh because it was just that deep.

He had a wonderful relationship with his children and grandchildren. There was no such thing as no when it came to them. His kids grew up spoiled. He loved taking his grandchildren out whenever he had the chance. There was nothing that they could not ask him for.

Randy opened up Unc’s BBQ to not only provide great food to the community but to give his family something to pass on. Unc’s BBQ was an extension of Randy and on the weekends, it would look like the club outside. That is just the kind of man he was. It was the place that you could go to if you needed a meal and did not have the money, leave an IOU. It was not that Randy was a bad businessman he just simply would not allow his family to go hungry.

Randy loved riding motorcycles. He got his love of riding from his Uncle Ed “Warsam”. He often rode with friends and family. He did many charity rides, his favorite being the Miracle Ride. He loved the scenery of the ride, but his favorite part was at the end being able to throw candy to the children at the hospital.

He took pride in his yard. Every Saturday morning, he cooked a big breakfast because he knew someone would stop by hungry. He spent his Saturdays working on his lawn and garden bed. His favorite saying was, “GET YOUR ASS OFF MY GRASS!”

Randy is preceded in death by his parents. James Cheshier (Ida) and Emogene Willams (Richard); siblings: Mary Delores Cheshier, Yvonne Williams, Clementine Allensworth, Dalewayne Cheshier, Cubby “Kirby” Cheshier, Ivan and Biff Burnett.

Randy leaves to cherish his memories one son, James Cheshier; two daughters, Aliscia Cheshier Howard (Danny Ray) and Suzanne Michael; twelve grandchildren: James Jr., Aaliyah, Jayvon, Jamiyah, Jaycion, Mario, Mikel, Tristen, Allison, King, Rayven and Darian; four sisters: Brenda Cheshier, Beverly Cheshier, Rhonda Jones and Kristy Herron (James); stepsister, April Shaw; four brothers: Ernest Chesier, Steve Cheshier, Ozias Burnett and Victor Burnett; great-uncles, Oliver Croom (Cheryl) and Tracy Croom; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.
