Mr. Nathan Lee Rice affectionately known as “Nate" was born on May 25,1958 to Charles George Washington Rice and Mamie Dee Rice in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Nathan confessed his life to Christ at an early age, where he attended Corinthian Baptist Church.
Nate received his primary and secondary education in the Indianapolis Public School system where he excelled and thrived in his studies. He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School.
After graduating Highschool Nathan was joined in holy matrimony to Miss Stephanie Perry on February 7, 1977. Nathan was the loving father of three children, a son, William Rice and two daughters Genevieve Rice and Markita Johnson.
Nathan served in the United States Army as a Private First Class “PFC” for the Field Artillery Unit. He was stationed in Fortville, Oklahoma and Frankfort, Germany. After serving in the military Nate was employed as a jewelry maker at Herff Jones Company, a maintenance man, a professional painter, and later retired as a chauffeur. He was truly a “Jack of all trades”.
Furthermore, Nate's hobbies included watching sports, fishing, dancing, BLASTING music on his portable speaker, but most of all he LOVED family gatherings and spending time with his family.
Later on in life, Nathan met Gail Spivey, and they were joined together in holy matrimony on February 17,2017. Together they attended Bread of Life Church.
Mr. Nathan L. Rice was proceeded in death by his parents Charles G.W. and Mamie Rice, his wife, Gail Spivey-Rice, his daughters Genevieve “TC” Rice-Moore (Roderick), and Markita Johnson, 5 brothers Harvey Brooks, Sterling, Darryl, Antonio, and Pierrie Rice. Two sisters Terri Robertson and Karen Petty, and lifelong friend Leander Henderson.
Nate leaves to cherish his memory his son William Rice(Dionne), (2 )brothers Charles “Nolan”Rice (Mary) and Charles D.Rice, (6)sisters Regina "Peaches” Rowe (Mike), Dorothy Gresham(Robert), Elois Campbell, Cheryl Rainey(Carl), Pamela Rice(Michael), and Rita Rice.(8)Nephews: Charles “Robbie” Rice(Heather), Andrew Adams Jr., Antwan Walker (Korrea) ,Steve Campbell (Ina), Brett Jones, Harvey Brooks Jr., Kenneth Hammond Sr(Sabrina) and the late Billy McFarley Jr. (4) Nieces: Arianne “Sabra” Evans (Mike), Mi’Tia “Tia” Hardy (Naja’e), Tasha Gresham (Demetrius) and Sharrain Stafford. A (Cousin/Brother) Frederick Rice (Shelia) a (Cousin/Sister) Sherri Street (25) great nieces and nephews, (16) grandchildren, (7) great-grandchildren, extended family The Terry’s, Muir’s, Henderson’s and a host of other relatives and friends.
