Mary V. (Smith) Hicks

On August 30, 1949 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Zack Hicks in Corinth, Mississippi.

Mary relocated to Indianapolis, IN in 1950 and remained here as a resident until her passing. She was employed by Community East Hospital for twenty plus years before she retired on disability. Mary enjoyed coloring, knitting, puzzles, bingo, family time and sports. She especially loved the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts.

Our loved one gave her life to Christ at an early age, and church has always been a major part of her life. She finished her journey at True Tried Missionary Baptist Church.

Mary V. Hicks departed this life on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Her husband; siblings: Florence Taylor, Melvin Smith and Grover Smith; and great-great-grandson, Kamden all preceded her in death.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories to two daughters, Betty M. Sanders and Mary L. Griffin (William); five grandchildren: Anitra, Kevin (Cindy), Michelle, Kim and Jacquelyn (Brian); nine great-grandchildren: Brei, Andrea (Montez), Ebony, Justin, Shayla, DannyJr., Alexis, Elizabeth and Lauryn; eight great-great-grandchildren: Asia, Austin, Kameala, Christa, Kaiden, Bryson, Amira and Aaliyah; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

A Visitation was held at True Tried Missionary Baptist Church 506 West 26th Street Indianapolis IN 46208 at 10:00:00 AM on 4/21/2018.

A Celebration of Life was held at True Tried Missionary Baptist Church 506 West 26th Street Indianapolis IN 46208 at 11:00:00 AM on 4/21/2018.
