Linda Jean (Porter) Sturdivant was born February 24, 1955, to Johnnie Frank and Dora Etta (Thompson) Porter in Cairo, Illinois.
At a young age, in the late 1950s, Linda and her family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where she spent the remainder of her life. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1973 and grew to be an amazing young woman.
In 1988, Linda was united in Holy Matrimony to Edward J. Sturdivant. Their union was blessed with one child and Linda Jean had five children before marriage.
She professed a life in Christ at an early age. She was a member of Charity Christian Center.
Linda worked at Indiana Protection and Advocacy as an executive secretary, where she retired after all her years of service. Linda Jean was endowed with a loving and caring spirit. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Anita Baker.
Mrs. Linda Jean was the life of the party. Those who knew her would know that she did not play. She enjoyed activities, such as furthering her education, singing, dancing, working in her garden, making wine and talking to her daddy. Linda Jean loved safari prints and sporting a nice pair of heels. Linda’s most memorable moment would be having children and giving her grandchildren nicknames.
Linda Jean was cherished by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Linda Jean Sturdivant departed her life on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the age of 69 years old. Her parents, Johnnie and Dora Porter; son, Rahshaad Artis Sr.; siblings: Johnny Powell, Willie Frank, Tommy Jr., Bobbie Jean Summers and Roosevelt Porter, all preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Edward Sturdivant; children: Diona Archie, Isha Archie, Filmore Artis, Chadwick Artis and Jermaine Sturdivant; siblings: Darnell, Gilbert C. (Mamie), Johnnie Jr. (Geraldine), Michael A., Gwendolyn Butler, Tammy, Angela M., Doris M. and Loretta Porter; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.
