Linda Kay Byrd

Linda Kay Byrd was born on September 3, 1949 to Oliver Byrd and Luvenia Davis Brooks in Ft Wayne, Indiana. She was called Home on July 13, 2025 at the age of 75.

Linda attended Indianapolis Public Schools and completed her education at Arsenal Technical High School. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and worked as a Deli Manager at Kroger.

Linda was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, colleague, friend, and confidant. She touched the lives of many with her profound sense of humor, warmth, creativity, curiosity, and gregarious, outgoing nature. Linda was a generous friend and possessed an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. She possessed a feisty spirit, biting wit, and a kind heart. She had a rare gift of being your biggest cheerleader. Linda Byrd had your back!

Those who knew her knew her as a lady with tenacity and a sharp tongue. Beyond her ability to stand up for herself was a deep well of empathy and support she was happy to bestow upon anyone she loved. And Linda loved fiercely. She was who you called when you were upset, angry or confused. She was who you leaned on when you weren’t sure of your own confidence. She was who you called when you needed to be reminded of how powerful you are.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Luvenia; and her sister, Diane Elaine Bishop.

She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Darice and Angela Snorten; grandchildren, Brianna and Caleb Jones; bonus children: Cornelius Snorten Jr., Christina Snorten and Clifton Snorten; and great-grandson, Camron James Calhoun; brother Charles Ervin; sisters, Sheila Lynch and Janice Add Richardson; niece, Dionne Bishop (Desmond &and Destiny); nephew, Reginald Bishop II (wife, Briony & sons, Kieron and Rhys Bishop); a host of loving family and friends.

She will forever be loved and missed by all.
