Lavern Carter

January 30, 1956 — October 29, 2022

Indianapolis, Indiana

LAVERN CARTER was born January 30, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Wardell Brantley and Ella Mae Amis. At an early age, she confessed her love for Christ and accepted Him as her personal Lord and Savior. She attended Emmanuel Church Banta Campus.

Lavern received her primary education at Indianapolis Public School #45. She continued her education and love for learning at Arsenal Technical High School, and later attended Martin University. Lavern was a certified electronic technician and she loved repairing electronic devices and instruments. She was employed by Carrier, formally known as Bryant Heating & Cooling for many years.

Lavern was a beautiful, loving, compassionate person with many skills and gifts. She loved and cared for everyone, and she assisted many in their time of need: she never met a stranger, and she opened her doors to all. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a loving sister, auntie, and friend. She loved fashion, spending time with her family, traveling, bowling, playing softball, dancing, and eating delicious food. She loved listening to “Prince”, one of her favorite musicians.

Lavern received her wings and transitioned to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
Lavern leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Ron Page, Ronieka Howell and Shannon Page; grandchildren: T’Aries Page, Verronte Page, Taylor McElwain, Ezekier Breaziel III, Tony McElwain III, Ronasiah Williams, Joshua Howell, Taurean Dill Jr, Tarean Dill and Madison Page; sisters: Shirley Britton and Ellen Gaines; brother: Bradley Amis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Wardell and Ella Amis; stepparents: Shirley Amis and William Thomas; brothers: Donald and Drake Amis; niece: Brandy Payne.

Lavern will always have a special place in our hearts. Remember all the great things that made her who she was. Continue to let the compassion that she shared with you live on. She leaves her legacy – LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE & FORGIVE.
