Karen Marie Miller

Obituary

Karen was born on September 15, 1957, to Rudolph Valentino Burris and Louise Roberta Burris on the south side of Indianapolis, Indiana, affectionately known as "Brick City." Karen graduated from Manual High School in 1975 and dedicated 30 years of service to Decatur Central Schools, where she faithfully worked in food service and as a bus monitor before retiring in 2014.

As a young girl, Karen attended Grace Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Golder. At the age of 16, she received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost in the privacy of her bedroom, an experience that became the foundation of her lifelong walk with God. At the age of 17, she began attending Refuge Temple Revival Center under the leadership of Pastor Paul C. Otis, Sr., where she faithfully worshipped and met the love of her life Eld. Cleo Miller III.

As a faithful and dedicated member of Refuge Temple Revival Center, Karen served in many capacities throughout the years. Her ministries included the Usher Board, Women's Council President, Pastor's Aide Committee, Building Fund Secretary, and the church choir. In March of 2026, she became a member of Christ Church Apostolic, under the leadership of Pastor James E. Tyson II.

On August 4, 1979, Karen married the love of her life, Eld. Cleo James Miller III. Together they shared 45 years of marital bliss, built a loving home, and were blessed with eight children, raising their family with faith, love, and devotion.

Karen's greatest love was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She delighted in spoiling her grandchildren, hosting family gatherings, and encouraging her children and grandchildren to share their talents by performing at family celebrations. She also enjoyed traveling, fellowshipping with family and friends, and bowling with her beloved husband.

On July 12, 2026, Karen peacefully transitioned from this earthly life, leaving behind a beautiful testimony of unwavering faith, selfless service, and unconditional love. She leaves a lasting legacy of devotion to God, dedication to her family, and kindness toward everyone she encountered. Her memory will forever be treasured by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Karen was preceded in death by her loving parents, Rudolph Valentino Burris and Louise Roberta Burris; her brothers, David Burris and Rudolph Burris Jr.; her beloved husband, Eld. Cleo James Miller III; her son, Robert "Speedy" Miller, and granddaughter Emery Miller.
