Joseph C. Freeman (Joey) was born May 8th, 1963, to Shirley Ann and William Freeman. Shirley later married Lafayette (Buck) Whitney.
Joseph, known as Joey by friends and loved ones, attended Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis, Indiana where he obtained his High School Diploma in 1981. As a teenager, Joey and his friends called themselves “The Now Later Gang”. They would hang out and cause mischief around their neighborhood.
Joey’s love for food led him into the food service line of work. He worked in numerous fast-food restaurants throughout his career. Joey did not hesitate to speak his mind and would tell you how he felt, with love. He had a big smile but an even bigger heart with a contagious laugh that fit his big personality.
Joey was a God-fearing man. He loved his church, Sanders Temple, Church of God in Christ. Joey served in the food pantry, loved going to Bible Study and Sunday School. Joey would also call the prayer line and referred to it as his “lifeline” during the pandemic.
Joey is preceded in death by his parents. He will be missed by his siblings, William R. Freeman, Karriem Freeman, Richard (Jada) Freeman, nieces, LaTasha Freeman, Domonique Freeman, Ericka Freeman, nephews, Kevin Freeman, Montrail Rippy, Richard Freeman Jr, and a host of great nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
