Jonathan Neil “Jonny” Johnson was born on May 19, 1965, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the loving union of Joe Nathan Johnson and Eva Pearl Mathews Johnson. From the very beginning, Jonny’s life was shaped by family, faith, and a spirit that brought joy to everyone he encountered.
Jonny received his education in the Indianapolis Public Schools and Pike Township School District, graduating from Northwest High School in 1983. Always eager to learn and improve his skills, he later attended classes at Ivy Tech and Vincennes University.
Raised in the church, Jonny gave his life to the Lord at an early age. He was baptized and attended Good Samaritan Baptist Church throughout his youth. As he matured in his walk with God, Jonny later joined Unity In Christ Family Worship Center, where his commitment to Christ and service to others led to his ordination as a Deacon—a role he carried with humility, faithfulness, and love.
Jonny was known as a man who loved to fix things. Gifted with his hands and a sharp mechanical mind, he worked as a tool and die maker and machinist for many companies over the years. Due to disability, Jonny retired from Willoughby Industries, but his desire to help and repair never faded.
On January 7, 2026, after a long battle with many health conditions, Jonny peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joe Nathan Johnson and Eva Pearl Johnson.
Jonny leaves to cherish his memory his loving sister, Suzanne Evette Johnson Cork (Rodney); nephew, Randall Anthony Cork; great-nieces and great-nephew: Kelli, Kacey, Ryan and Kyla Cork. Along with many cousins, friends, and church family who were blessed by his life.
Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing that Jonny now rests in the presence of the Lord. His legacy of faith, laughter, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
