John (Johnathan) Wesley Tyson

John W. Tyson Jr.  was born on February 15, 1955, at Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana to John W. Tyson Sr. and Dessie L. Tyson.  He was the second child born to this union.  He departed this life suddenly on January 6, 2024, at the age of sixty-eight years and eleven months in his peaceful home.

 John attended Indianapolis Public Schools graduating from Broad Ripple High School in 1975.  He served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge.

Early in his life, John visited many states living in California and Texas but eventually made Indiana home.

John devoted his life to the service of others in hospitality.  Many coworkers commented on how pleasant it was to work with him.   John had a charismatic nature, fun spirit and could often be found smiling.  He surrounded himself with music and loved to entertain his friends.   The tranquility of his home was inviting and comfortable.

Until the time of his death, John remained a devoted son, brother, and uncle.  He was loyal to his employment at Robin Run Village for the past eighteen years, where he made many friends.  John’s thoughtful and caring words will be missed by many!

 John leaves to cherish his memory his nurturing and loving mother Dessie L. Tyson, sister Evelyn Tyson-Perry, niece Denessa Sherman (Gregory), nephew DeJuan Mitchell, aunts Joyce Wade, Marie Thompson, Mary Laswell, and Corrine Fisher, uncle Robert L. Tyson (Mary), and a host of beloved cousins, relatives and friends.

John is preceded in death by his father Pastor District Elder John W. Tyson Sr., Pastor James J. Tyson (Bernadine), brother Eugene W. Tyson.
