John Lee Smith Sr.

Mr. John Lee Smith, Sr., passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016.

John was the son of the late Pauline Eubanks and was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Crispus Attucks High School and in Indianapolis grew to young manhood.

He was married to Clarine Smith for over 50 years. He was a member of Greater Morning Star Baptist Church and was employed by the Chrysler Corporation for many years until retirement. After retirement he enjoyed gardening and playing poker with his sons. He was a master cook on the bar-b-que-grill and also enjoyed grilling for family and friends.

He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His memory will be forever cherished by family and friends.

Mr. John Lee Smith, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Clarine Smith; four daughters, Yvonne Smith Hoggs, Mashariki 'Nini' Jywanza (Kamau), Debra Smith Robinson (Clifford), and Crystal D. Smith; and three sons; Robert 'Bobby' Keith (Sharian), John L. Smith, Jr. (Sheena), and Kurt J. Smith; sixteen grandchildren , and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Family and Friends Visitation will be held on , Saturday, August 6th, from 10 am until service time of 12 noon at Greater Morning Star Baptist Church, 519 E.23rd Street. Interment will be in New Crown Cemetery.
