Her Life Journey
Jenette Ezell “Baby” was born July 15, 1951 the 3rd of 9 children born too late Rev John Walter Ezell and Geneva Glenn Ezell in Cleveland Ohio. At the age of 4, the family relocated to Indianapolis Ind. Where the family resides today.
The family joined Freewill Missionary Baptist church under ship of late pastor Cecil Hall where Jenette gave her life to Christ at 12 years old. At vacation bible school she became a helper moving to other organizations in the church. Jenette then moved her membership to Mount Paran missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev B.F. Sims. There she met the late Rev Fred and sister league, where she served with the women ministry, Baptist Training union ministry. Jenette was guest speaker for southern Christian Leadership conference.
Jenette attended Indianapolis Public School #41. Jenette graduated from Arenal Technical Highschool with the graduating class of 1970.
Jenette started her career after graduating high school, working her first job at Barton House where she met and became friends with Mary Williams and Shirley Bellamy. They gave her the name Ezell. This friendship has lasted for 55 years. Still wanting to be of service to people she worked at Highland Manor where she was Activity Coordinator Director. Jenette received numerous of awards and certificates, after 45 years of dedicated work Ms. Jenette Ezell ‘Baby’ passed on her baton June 30th, 2015.
Jenette met the late congress woman Julia Porter Carson in 1972 where she worked for her, and they became friends until her death on December 15, 2007. Jenette was a very outspoken person with a sense of humor and a jokester, her favorite joke “Guess who came to visit and I can’t get him to leave, who Arthur, Arthur who, Authur, Arthritis’’, Arthur did leave June 13, 2025, at her residence the Bishop Joseph D. Farris Senior living apartments she was known as Michelle Obama always talking as if she was running for election.
Ms. Jenette Baby Ezell was called home to glory on June 13, 2025 at 4:30pm she was preceded in death by her parents Rev John Walter and Geneva Glenn Ezell, her two son Antonio Dewayne Ezell, Rashawn Harp, her two brother Samuel L Ezell Sr. Deacon Curtis L. Ezell sister Mrs. Rosa B. Williams, nephew Sterlyn L. Ezell She leave to cherish her memories daughter Naja Harp, Granddaughter Lauren Harp, Sisters Joyce Ezell, Collete Ezell, Brother Kelvin Ezell, Sandra K. Ezell Malone of Compton California Mrs. Yuvette L Staples of Renton Washington, Brother-in-law Levi Staples Renton Washington Sister-in-Law Mrs. Dianna Ezell of Phoenix Arizona, Mrs. Mary Ezell Groveland Florida Her God mother Mrs. Marie Beaty and her best friend Annie Y. Beaty of 65 years, Mrs. Mary Williams Denise Whitfield and Shirly Bellamy to her niece Mrs. Laquila and Pastor Chad Hubbard who were her care givers and a host of niece, nephews, cousins and host ofdear friends.
