JEAN MARIE JONES, was born September 15, 1944, in Memphis, Tennessee to Estella Woods. Jean Jones departed this life peacefully on October 15, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Jean attended Indianapolis Public School #26 and received her GED. She was employed at RCA, from where she retired, for 30 years.
She enjoyed writing poems, bowling, fishing, gardening, and cooking, but most of all she loved family. Jean opened her doors to whomever was in need. Her home was filled with love, laughter, family, and plenty of gatherings. Family always gathered at her home for holidays, Sunday dinners, and even on a random day of the week. There was nothing that Jean Marie would not do for anyone. She was kindhearted, soft-spoken, giving, loving, and family oriented. She loved everyone and genuinely had a heart of gold.
Jean Marie was very artistic. She could write or tell a story that was captivating. She enjoyed projects such as gardening, decorating, or painting her home. Jean Marie had a unique sense of humor. Everyone would say when talking to Jean on the telephone, “don’t pause because you will get hung up on.” She would often say what she needed to say and when she was done, the conversation was over. When you called back to ask if she hung up on you, she would just laugh.
She attended New Zion Tabernacle Church, where she gave her life to Christ.
Jean Marie Jones was preceded in death by her mother, Estella Woods; son, Troy Jones; four brothers: J.C. Woods, A.J. Woods, John L. Woods, and Jimmy Doss; and sister, Lavern Banks.
She leaves behind her beloved children: Evelyn Wallace (Gregory), Kenneth Jones (Rodessa), and April Jones; grandchildren: Montez Roberts, Brandy Jones, William Beeler (Sharon), Brandon Jones, Brian Jones, Teaira Jones, Stacy Jones, Uriel Jones, Matthew Jones, and Zerena Jackson; fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings: Shirley Doss, Sheila Rivera, Janice Rameses (Muata), Gay West (Michael), Gail Reaves (Joseph), Jessie Rainey (Linda), and Francine Harrison (Paul); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will all cherish her memory.
