Janice Pearl Gordon Russell was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 20 th , 1949 she was oldest child
to Eddie and Maxine Gordon. She attended Washington Township Schools and graduated from
North Central High School. She was married to Nathaniel H. Russell Jr. and to that union two children
were born.Janice had a passion for positively influencing youth, she was able to display this during her time employed
as a security officer for Indianapolis Public Schools. As an avid learner she continued to work and volunteer
with IPS and the Indianapolis community until she relocated to Atlanta Georgia. In Atlanta her work with
the youth continued through creating programs and books to inspire, encourage and teach good values.
Janice was loved and respected by all of the children she worked with, not only was she a loving mother,
teacher, mentor and counselor, she was also an avid writer and was eagerly awaiting the next Hunny B
Academy book sale event.Janice was called home on October 02, 2021 at the age of 71. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories her sister, Judy Toles (Timothy Toles); her
daughter Zoanne McKinstry; her son Nathaniel Russell III; five grandchildren, Robert McBrady ,Romello McKinstry Jordan, and Rome McKinstry,Nathaniel Russell IV, and Camry Russell; five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
