James W. Milton, Jr. passed away on November 3, 2021, at the age of 66. He was born on January 10, 1955 to James and Sadie Milton in Indianapolis, IN.
James attended Bishop College in Texas where he majored in Mathematics. After graduating from Bishop, he embarked on a 35-year career as an insurance underwriter where he worked in several states including Texas, Florida, Kentucky, Georgia, and finally Ohio. As a driven professional, James befriended numerous co-workers over the course of his career and always shared fond memories and stories about his experiences with them.
An avid sports, movies and music enthusiast, James enjoyed spirited debates about the legacy of his favorite basketball player, Julius Irving, curating must-see movie lists, attending live concerts, making CD’s for his loved ones, adding to his legendary record collection, reading, and of course, telling a great story.
James also loved his family with all his heart. He is survived by four children: Bradley, Monica, Lena, James III, and their mother, Rita Milton; six grandchildren: Damien, Laiyah, Jayron, Skye, Kayden, and Legend; Aunt Mary Lou Hinkle, Uncle James Flowers; Cousins: Marsha Scott, Lois “Dell” Taylor, Robert “Butch” Hinkle, Arben Chislom, Don “Pookie” Scott, Michael Chislom, Melanie Chislom, Todd Taylor, Sydney Taylor, Robyn Taylor; best friend Melvin McNairy (and Linda McNairy), as well as a host of other dear friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Sadie Milton.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the medical professionals at Methodist Hospital and his close friend, Larry Smith, for his assistance.
