James A. Patton Jr.

James Arthur Patton Jr. was born November 27, 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Reverend James A. Patton Sr. and Otharene (Perkins) Patton.

He professed a hope in Christ at an early age. James was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. He was baptized by his father, Reverend Patton.

James was a loving father, brother, and uncle. He loved cooking and having back yard barbecues with friends and family. He was known for his ability to cook good barbecue and fried chicken, and he was very good at doing both. When not in the kitchen James loved watching sports, professional and college level football and basketball. He also loved spending quiet time listening to old school music. It was common to hear the sounds of the Temptations, Earth, Wind & Fire, and all the Motown legends being played in the house.

James A. Patton Jr. departed this life on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the age of 76. His parents, Reverend James Sr. and Otharene Patton; brothers, Durwood Patton and John A. Patton; and sister, Densie Mason, all preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish the love of his life of 35 years, Donna Hicks; daughters, Tonya Byrd (Gary) and Annette Patton; stepson, Deacon Roosevelt James; six sisters: Eva Wilson (Marian), Wartha Calvert, Ruth Rogers (Henry), Ruthie Patton, Nadine Patton, and Patricia Morris; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loving family and friends,
