Celebrating The Life Of…
Helen Louise Williams.
Helen Louise Willliams was born October 7, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the union of Hallie and Cordelia Smith. Helen was the oldest of five children, and she took her role as big sister seriously. This role shaped her to be a loving, compassionate, and supportive woman. Family was her foundation, and family meant everything to her.
Helen accepted Christ early as her Lord and savior. In 1970 she joined Grace Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until she departed this life. At Grace, she was the church secretary, a choir member, a church nurse, member of the mother’s board, and a devoted member of the pastor’s aide. Helen was a God-fearing woman, and she kept Christ at the forefront of her life.
Helen grew up on the east side of Indianapolis where she attended IPS School #37, #26 and Crispus Attucks High School. It was at Attucks High School where Helen would meet and develop a love for her future husband Charles C.B. Williams.
Helen and her high school sweetheart Charles were married June 10, 1958. Their wonderful union produced six children. Helen always wanted what was best for her children, and she worked hard and sacrificed to help make sure that they had a good life. While being a devoted wife, mother, and Grandmother Helen still found time to have a career. She worked for RCA and Blocks, and in 1991 she became a licensed cosmetologist.
Helen was the heart of her family. Her kindness, strength and unwavering love shaped generations. Love wasn’t something she just said, it was something she lived every day. She enjoyed working in the church, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Helen was a joy to be around, and you could always count on her for the truth and words of wisdom. Helen was a beautiful woman inside and out and she spent her life giving to others.
Helen was called home to be with her heavenly father Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the blessed age of 84 years old. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Charles Williams, father, Hallie Smith, mother, Cordelia Smith, son, Jacque Willliams, sisters Diane Patterson, Janie Benson, and Cordelia Bellamy, brother Stephen Smith, and grandson Drake Williams- Jett.
