Gwendolyn Brasher was born on February 19, 1943, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Addie and Reverend James McGavock. She grew up in Indianapolis Indiana where she attended Crispus Attucks High School and went on to pursue her career in Nursing.
Gwendolyn worked for many years at the former Winona Memorial hospital and retired from her career at Westview Nursing Home. She was a dedicated and compassionate employee, known for her genuine care for patients. Gwen was always the first to volunteer for additional hours, ensuring staff coverage during inclement weather and emergencies.
Outside of work, Gwendolyn loved spending time with her grandkids and enjoyed cooking meals for family gatherings. Her love for animals was evident throughout her life, having many dogs over the years. She also had an impressive collection of stuffed animals, each with its own special memory.
Gwendolyn had a passion for thrifting, enjoying the hunt for treasures at thrift stores and yard sales. Upon her retirement, she found joy in working on crossword and word search puzzles, a hobby that kept her mind sharp.
Throughout her later years, Gwendolyn shared the responsibility of caring for her mother until her passing, demonstrating the same selflessness and love that had defined her career and personal life.
