GERALD N. JONES was born on January 6, 1951, as the youngest of four children, to Rudolph and Hillary Jones in Indianapolis, Indiana. Gerald was educated by the Indianapolis Public School System and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1969. 

Gerald professed his faith in Jehovah early in his adult life. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1975 at Arlington Heights Kingdom Hall. He was a beloved member for many years at East Lawrence Kingdom Hall. 

On February 21, 1976, Gerald was united in Holy Matrimony to Lavenia Donel and this union was blessed with one son, Corey Jones. Gerald worked at Broad Ripple High School for 38 years as a custodian. He was loved by all students, staff and teachers that he met over the years. 

Mr. Jones loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling, laughing, enjoying good food and watching sports. He also loved to clean his car and listen to jazz music in his spare time. Gerald had a huge heart and would help anyone in need. He also never met a stranger and made friends easily. Mr. Jones was a devoted father, brother, uncle and grandfather. 

Gerald was known for his sayings, with some of his favorites being “Right Brother”, “Let people be people”, “Wooo, this sure is good”, and “My land”. 

Gerald departed this life on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Hillary Jones; brother, Rudolph “Phi” or “Fire” Jones Jr.; and sister, JoAnn Sanders. 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Corey Jones (Angela); grandson, Elijah Jones; granddaughter, E’lynn Jones; brother, Ronald D. Jones (Gloria); aunt, Sallie Wimberly; and a host of nieces, The family of Gerald N. Jones acknowledges with appreciation nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends.
