Reverend George Thomas Johnson
1942 – 2026

Reverend George Johnson, a devoted servant of the Lord and a pillar of the community, entered into eternal rest on March 8, 2026, at the age of 83. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members, following a life dedicated to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Born on March 22, 1942 in Hiseville, Kentucky George was the son of the late Vester and Geneva Johnson. He moved to Indianapolis Indiana at an early age. George attending the Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend J.A. Johnson Sr.
George felt a profound calling to the ministry, a path he pursued with unwavering commitment. Reverend George Johnson served as an Associate Pastor at the Greater Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Senior Pastor David L. Johnson Jr. He was known for his "quiet acts of kindness," often assisting parishioners by transporting them to and from church. His legacy is defined by the countless lives he touched.
Reverend Johnson leaves a beautiful legacy of love, including his two daughters, Mia (Dexter) Jarrett, Cassandra (Johnson) Partee of Decatur, IL. He is also survived by his three cherished grandchildren Demar Johnson, Randy (Paige) Jarrett and Lanedra Gray; and his 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two beloved nieces Cynthia (Tinny) Butler, Melissa (David) Blair; and nephew William (Boonie) Caldwell: along with a host of grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Reverend Johnson will truly be missed by his dear little mini-me Donavan Golden.
Reverend Johnson was preceded in death by his parents Vester and Geneva Johnson and his sister Dorine Caldwell; his grandchildren Tajee Johnson, Tia Patterson Jarrett, Iyonna Johnson; and his dear friend and the mother of his daughters Sandra Lane Johnson.
