Frank Chester Mason Jr.

Frank Chester Mason Jr., known by many affectionate nicknames; (Big Bank) Hank, Little Frank, Hampton, Paw Paw, and more, was born on September 20th, 1967, to Mr. and Mrs. Frank & Virginia Mason.

Frank Jr. was deemed as set apart from the beginning of his life. His unique traits & distinct characteristics strongly distinguished him amongst others. A meek yet clever young boy, he spent his childhood joyfully playing and getting into mischief with his brothers and sister. He attended elementary IPS school #66, where he excelled greatly in minor league baseball. Following that, he went on to IPS school #61 for junior high and continued his passion for baseball. During this time, he developed a love for basketball also, a hobby that continued into early adulthood. Ending his school career, he graduated from Franklin Central High School and there began his love for cars that carried into adulthood.

Three years after graduation, Frank married his elementary school sweetheart, Charlotte, and enjoyed 9 years of marital bliss and light-hearted living. Frank & Charlotte cultivated much silliness & laughter together, playing pranks on their friends & family. This became a defining attribute of who Frank was a cheerful, jokester, kid at heart. Once stable, Frank & Charlotte welcomed their first daughter into the world and a second daughter 4 years later. Frank’s heart became fully inclined & dedicated to his family, his 3 girls. He loved being active, initiating neighborhood kickball tournaments and planning adventurous activities and road trips, even if it was just to Downtown Indy. He held many leadership positions in aerospace technical work/engineering and built commercial electronics throughout his life, in order to provide for his. His family was certainly his pride and joy. He sought to live a quiet life, led by the Lord and shared his faith through sending daily scriptures, uplifting people with encouraging words and most importantly, preserving through life’s trials without complaint. His last few years were gracefully filled with servitude, rest, love, laughter & togetherness. He cared tenderly for and got to spend much time with his 4 grandchildren and wife. His most recent pastimes included cooking, dancing, listening to music, having “talks” of wisdom with his grandboys, watching comedies, game shows, and Yo Gabba Gabba with his grandmuffins, of course. He achieved yet another nickname in his latter days, The Professional Napper. On March 10th, Frank closed his eyes, in his favorite chair, for the last time.

Frank was preceded in death by all grandparents; his brothers, Rodney Mason Sr. and Kenneth Mason Sr.; Sister, Tambra Armour; and nephew, Kenneth Mason Jr.

He leaves behind, to cherish his memories: his wife, Charlotte Mason; his daughters, Aaleyah Dedeaux-Mason (Andre) and Breanna Mason (Ahmad Johnson); his father, Frank Mason Sr., his mother, Virginia Mason; brothers, Charles (Michelle) Mason, Michael Mosley, Terry (Ericka) Mason; a large family of in-laws; 4 grandchildren, Adrien, Andre Jr., Adonai Dedeaux and Jace Johnson; uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and a plethora of other relatives and friends.
