Emma C. Odom

Emma C. Odom, age 74, of West Point, Mississippi, entered eternal rest on June 22, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 8, 1950, to L.C. and Emma Mae Thompson.

Emma was a beautiful and kind-hearted soul, with a willingness to help in whatever way she could, expecting nothing in return. Always greeting everyone with a radiant smile. Emma was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Wavie C. Nance.

Emma attended IPS school #26 and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. Emma married John Odom on July 10, 1971. Together they raised three children and remained married until her death. Emma worked for RCA Records for 19 years. She worked for Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company, Emma would later work for Indianapolis Public School for 19 years, retiring in 2009 Emma enjoyed working with her co-workers, many who became great friends.

Sharing many laughs and adventures with them. In retirement, Emma found joy in reading the paper and doing the cross-word puzzles, playing solitaire, traveling (New Orleans was her favorite) and spending time with her family. Emma‘s love for her family knew no limits. She was always available to help no matter the need. Emma showed up to all family events ready to support, celebrate, and take a trip back down memory lane with her cousins. Emma‘s support to her family ensured that they would succeed in life. Emma‘s grandson Michael referred to her as an angel on earth and we will forever remember her as “our angel.”

Emma was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Wavie C. Nance.

Emma is survived by husband, John Odom. Her children Michele Lacy, Derrick Odom, and Gregory Tyrone Odom. 7 grandchildren Brent Yates, Michael Blow (Fallon), Shante Flowers, Tracey Smith, Denise Smith, Ricki Wellington (Christian) and Becky Odom. 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. 1 aunt Leedale Woodfork. 1 nephew Dewayne Brown. 3 nieces Jackie, Angie, and Kimberly Nance. Son-in-law Rodney Hollins. Grandson Lionel McNoriell and a host of cousins,
