DiAnna Brown

DiAnna was born in 1951 to Louis and Rosetta Brown in Bouge Chitto, Mississippi.  She moved to Indianapolis and was raised by her Aunt Lula Mae Washington (affectionately known as Aunt Girl) following a sudden and tragic loss of her mother in 1960.

DiAnna graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1969 and entered the workforce.

Shortly thereafter, she discovered a calling for nursing and became a nursing assistant in the mid-seventies and furthered her education even more by becoming an LPN in the early 80s.  This nursing passion led to a position at St. Vincent’s hospital, where she worked over 30 years before retiring.

DiAnna was a consummate jokester and prankster who absolutely loved to laugh and shared that joy with other people.  She was at her best when she was surrounded by friends and family making witty observations.  Bugs Bunny reruns were in constant rotation.

One of DiAnna’s spiritual gifts was a loving, discerning spirit.  She was very empathetic and could be relied upon to give you the unvarnished truth in love and the wisdom you sought.

She leaves a legacy of wisdom and humbleness in allowing the Holy Spirit to move within you and through you in order to serve others and positively contribute to the kingdom of God.

DiAnna is preceded in death by brothers David, Albert Junior, and Willie, sisters Margaret, Sarah, Mary Nell, and Delores.

She is survived by two sons, Eric Brown and Shaun Brown, five grandsons, DeShawn Williams, Anthony Brown, Eric Brown Jr, Jayden Williams, and Christopher Williams, and one granddaughter, Christina Brown.

She is also survived by four siblings, Edna Royal, Yvonne Moore, Mary Ann Brame, Jerry Brown, and dozens of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

May you rest in eternal peace with our heavenly father, and may your memory continue to inspire us to live with the same love, compassion, and strength that you exemplified throughout your remarkable life.

Well done, good and faithful servant.
