DeMuriel “Dee Dee” Lake, the daughter of James Rose and Mary Jackson, was born on December 10, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She attended the School of Seventh Day Adventist, Indianapolis Public School #4, Crispus Attucks High School, and graduated from Broad Ripple High School. Dee Dee was employed as a teacher for many years at Witness For Christ Christian School. She gave her life to Christ at the age of 37 and was a long-time member of Victory Christian Center and New Life Community Church.
Dee Dee enjoyed reading, fashion and quality time with her family and dogs. She enjoyed sitting on the phone and watching tv with her sister, Gina every Tuesday or just spending time hanging out with her mother, Mary. She adored her seven children and often bragged about how proud of them she was. If you wronged any of her children or grandchildren, then you had a problem with her! She took pride in making sure that her children stayed close together. She also loved to spend time with her 24 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who could always keep her busy. Dee Dee’s beauty and fashion sense were timeless. She was often the go-to for makeup and clothing for her sisters, Deborah, Christy and many others. She passed down her creative genes to her children and grandchildren, as well. One of the best things about her was her sense of humor. Dee Dee was sure to crack at joke at some point during your interaction with her. She was also a great resource on natural and holistic health. Most importantly of all, she loved church and witnessing to anybody about the goodness of Christ, even if it was a tree that would listen!
DeMuriel Lake was crowned with glory on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 9 days. Her grandparents; father, James Rose; her children’s fathers: Larry Anderson, Terry Armstrong and Howard Dickerson; and granddaughter, Cantrelle Johnson all preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children: Monique Bembry (Ryan), Kendall Lake, Shannon Lake, Tibble Lake, Fanta Dickerson-Jackson (Charles), Kwanza Dickerson and Ebony Dickerson; mother, Mary Jackson; sisters: Gina Lake, Christy Lake and Debra Ogletree; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
