Alex “El-Dog” Hoskins was born March 10, 1944 in Indianola, Mississippi to Henry Hoskins, Sr., and Mary Dillards Hoskins. He later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana.
Ellis, as he was affectionately called, received his education at Harry E. Wood Elementary and George Washington High School. He loved bowling, fishing, and doing James Brown impersonations in his younger days. You could often hear Ellis cracking jokes.
Alex met Susie Members in 1970, they were united in holy matrimony in 1980. Their blended family consist of eight children. He worked at Sam Wilkoff Scrap and Metal and later retired from the company.
Ellis was a true believer in Christ. His first church affiliation was the Temple of Believers. Later in his life, he joined the Prayer House of Deliverance, where he was ordained as Deacon Alex Hoskins.
Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, twelve brothers, two sisters, and two grandsons. He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife, Susie “Pearl” Hoskins; daughters: Sheryl, Ellisa Irene, Ellisa Marie, and Renicka Hoskins; sons, Clifford, Ellis “Rabbit”, and Kevin Hoskins; bonus daughter, Briaunna Members; two sisters, Jeanette Nalls and Betty Hoskins; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
