Darrell C. Harris, Sr.

DARRELL C. HARRIS, affectionately known as “D Money,” “Rell,” “Tru,” “Cuz,” and “Bro,” was born on July 14, 1989, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Bedellion Armstrong and Darryl Harris. On September 20, 2026, Darrell departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, laughter, music, and unforgettable memories.

Darrell attended Ebenezer International Training Center, where he became involved in the music ministry. He served through sound and participated in the performing arts, including gospel rap as a youth member. Music was more than something Darrell enjoyed; it was part of who he was.

In 2009, Darrell graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. With a natural gift for technology, he continued his education at Lincoln Tech and Ivy Tech Community College, pursuing his interest in computers.

Darrell had a personality that could light up a room. He loved dancing, fashion, amusement parks, thrills, concerts, and sci-fi horror films and was known for being the best dressed. His light brown eyes and contagious smile were unforgettable. Whether enjoying time with family and friends, attending a concert, or simply having a good time, Darrell brought an energy people could feel.

Above all else, Darrell was a devoted and loving father to his son, Darrell Harris Jr., affectionately known as DJ. Being a father was one of the most important roles of his life. He loved DJ fiercely and wanted his son to know that he was loved, supported, and capable of becoming anything he desired. Their precious bond will remain an enduring part of Darrell’s legacy.

Diagnosed with sickle cell anemia as a young child, Darrell refused to allow the disease to define his life. He often reminded his family and those around him that “sickle cell didn’t have him—he had sickle cell.” He lived by the words, “Head up. Chest out. Sickle Cell Strong.”

Darrell chose to live life to the fullest. He advocated for greater awareness and research surrounding sickle cell disease and helped his family organize annual sickle cell walks, turning his personal experience into an opportunity to encourage, educate, and advocate for others. His resilience, courage, and determination were a testimony to everyone around him.

Darrell was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Armstrong and Billy Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son, Darrell Harris Jr. (DJ); his mother, Bedellion Armstrong (Aurthur Moncrief); his father, Darryl Harris (Priscilla); his sister, Dinisha Harris; his brothers, Darryl Harris, D’Angelo Harris, and Dvontae Harris; his grandmothers, Mary Armstrong and Diann Harris; his fiancée and significant other, Amber Holland; his favorite Auntie, Cheryl Edwards; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and close friends who loved him dearly.

Darrell lived life on his own terms. He loved deeply, laughed loudly, dressed well, enjoyed every thrill, and reminded everyone around him that sickle cell could be a part of his story—but it would never be the whole story.

Rest well, Baby. Your legacy lives on.
