With heavy hearts, but with faith in God and the promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Collin Lewis Moore, age 65, of Indianapolis, Indiana, who departed this earthly life on August 2, 2026.
Collin was born on December 15, 1960, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to James C. Moore and Henrietta (Jackson) Watson. He was one of seven children. Collin attended Indianapolis Public Schools and proudly graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. After high school, he attended trade school and earned his journeyman license in sheet metal, an accomplishment he was very proud of. Through his brave and hardworking career, he worked high above the ground, helping shape Indiana and other states by installing sheet metal, heating, and air-conditioning units in tall buildings.
Above all, Collin loved his family. His children meant the world to him. He loved his family deeply, and even though he fussed a lot, it was out of love. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were a precious part of his life and legacy.
Collin shared a very special relationship with his mother, Henrietta Watson. They spoke every day, watched sports together, talked, laughed, and enjoyed one another’s company. Their special bond was a beautiful example of a mother’s love for her son and a son’s love for his mother. Those conversations, laughs, and memories will forever remain in her heart.
Collin had a deep love for the Word of God. He loved talking about Scripture and could quote what seemed like almost every word of the Bible to anyone who would listen. His faith was a special part of who he was. He formerly attended Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church.
Although our hearts are broken, we hold on to God’s promises and find comfort knowing that Collin is now resting in the presence of the Lord whose Word he loved so dearly.
“To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8
Collin was preceded in death by his father, James C. Moore; sisters, Kimberly Moore and Terry Wineinger; and his only daughter, Avon Renea Moore.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Henretta Moore; sons, Collin L. Moore Jr. and Dr. Reilin J. Moore (Inozentia); granddaughters: Anya Moore, Quiterria Moore (His Bestie), and Amara Moore; grandsons: Tristian Moore, Trevion Moore, and Lavon Moore; and great-grandchildren: Brielle Rose, Za’Kyi Moore, Yasmine Moore, Ke’Mora Weatherford, Keshawn Weatherford, and Kemari Weatherford.
He also leaves his sisters: Tracy Milton, Ila Tramell (Edward), and Cynitha Bryant (Michael); brothers, Keith Moore (Marilyn), “not only a brother but his best friend”; Keith Patterson (Lakeitha) and Kent Patterson (Latrice); along with his brother in-law, Kyle Wineinger; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and loved ones.
Collin’s earthly journey has come to an end, but his love, hard work, wisdom, laughter, faith, and memories will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew him.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
Rest well, Collin. Your work here is finished. Your family will carry your love forward. Your memory will never be forgotten. And by God’s grace, we will meet again.
Until we meet again, may you rest peacefully in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
