Cleo James Miller III, affectionately known as “Duke,” was born on September 30, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Cleo James Miller Jr. and Mary Lee Miller. He attended and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1969.
At the age of 18, Cleo began working at Carrier Corporation, where he dedicated 48 years of faithful service before retiring.
In 1973, Cleo gave his life to the Lord and began his discipleship journey at New Day Pentecostal Church under Bishop Turner. In 1976, he began attending Refuge Temple Revival Center under the leadership of District Elder Paul C. Otis Sr., where he served as Assistant Pastor. In June 2023, he was ordained as an Elder under the New Day Pentecostal organization.
On August 4, 1979, Cleo was united in holy matrimony with Karen Burris (Miller). Together, they shared 45 years of marriage and a family of eight children, 27 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Cleo was a devout minister, loving husband, dedicated father, loyal employee, and generous friend. He believed in working hard and playing harder. He had a zeal for life, a love for good food, and a joyful spirit. He enjoyed bowling, playing games, finding the perfect melon, and ensuring everyone around him was having a good time. Cleo also cherished taking family vacations, creating lasting memories and bonding with his loved ones. He selflessly supported his family and helped anyone he could.
Cleo peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on June 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lee Miller; his father, Cleo James Miller Jr.; his sister, Diane Rogers; his son, Robert Miller, and grand-daughter, Emery Miller.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Karen Miller; his children, Cleo Miller IV (Courtney), LaShona, Shawntay, DaRon (Raqueiya), Jason (Starre), Devin (Jammie), and Sharita (Dujuan); 26 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Eula Marie, Brenda (Michael), Sheila, Crystal (Michael); 3 brothers, William (Pat), Richard, Maurice; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
