Clarence Edward Haynes was born September 22, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the proud son of John Henry and Nannie Mae Haynes.
Clarence attended Indianapolis Public Schools and Crispus Attucks High School. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He worked various jobs including his last place of employment at a Metal Stamping Plant for General Motors at which he served for 30 years.
Clarence was a faithful member at Scott United Methodist Church. He served in various ministries including being the head usher. He was united in Holy Matrimony with his beloved wife, Darlene Maynard Haynes in 1964.
Clarence enjoyed fishing, championship boxing, and horse racing. He was an amazing cook. He made a mean pot of chili, the best fried fish, and his ribs were to die for. Clarence loved jazz music. Everyone that knew him knew that he was a sharp dresser at which he was coined the name “Papa Smooth”.
Clarence Edward Haynes departed this life on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at the age of 92. He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him. His parents; son, Randy L Jones; siblings: John Haynes; Louis Haynes, Marjorie Adams and Myrtle Davis; and two grandchildren, Tamika Doyle and Corey McCann, all preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Darlene J. Haynes; two sons, Ronald L. Haynes (Dolores) and Steve C. Jones; two daughters, Doreen Parrish and Renita McCann (Eric); sister, Mae F. Graves;18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and host of nephews, nieces, and many loved ones.
