Charles Etta Williams

Charles Etta Dunlap Williams was born on May 5, 1949, in Springfield, Tennessee, to the late Charles Dunlap and Bessie Lassiter Dunlap. Growing up in Tennessee, Chuck pursued her education at Haynesfield High School. Professing her faith at an early age, she gave her life to the Lord and became a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church on November 7, 1986. In her later years, she found continuous spiritual joy, fellowship, and love as an adored member of The Sanctuary Church.

Chuck was united in Marriage to John Williams Jr., and through their loving union, they welcomed their sons, John Williams II (Bubba) and Nobie Williams (Pig).

She had nothing to do with her big personality—she was the kind of woman that made people lean in when she spoke. She loved telling everyone back-to-back stories from the old days, whether describing the neighborhood she grew up in, the meals she used to dance to, or the mischief she and her siblings got into. She possessed the rare gift of turning a simple memory into a full adventure, bringing laughter, tears, and nostalgia to anyone blessed enough to listen.

A fabulous cook, her kitchen was the beating heart of her home. Nothing made Granny happier than feeding her family, friends, and neighbors. Her food was made with the kind of love and soul that nourished both body and spirit, leaving an unforgettable mark on every life she touched.

And when it came to her grandkids, they were her absolute favorite subject in the world. She talked about each one like they were a legend in the making. Granny remembered every funny thing they said as toddlers, told time-worn proud moments from school, and counted their milestones like precious treasures. She lit up whenever she spoke about her grandkids, family, a strong-willed and full of pride, always ensuring they felt seen, welcomed, and deeply loved.
