Charisse Yvonne Davis-Bolden will be lovingly remembered as an intelligent and compassionate woman whose joyful spirit touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was born on Saturday, December 13, 1958, just twelve days before Christmas, to her devoted parents, the late Arthur Davis and the late Johnnie Mae Davis‐Gilmore. She was affectionately known as “Ree,” “Momma,” and “Ma” by all who loved and cherished her.
Charisse began her education at St. Rita Catholic School and later graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School, where she excelled both academically and as a student‐athlete. Ree was a woman of faith and became a confirmed Catholic at St. Rita Catholic Church in the mid‐1960’s. From an early age, Ree developed a deep passion for reading and eventually amassed a personal library containing thousands of books, each carefully inscribed with her name.
Charisse was united in marriage to Allen D. Bolden Sr., a proud member of the U.S. Navy, who preceded her in death. Ree devoted many years of her life to hard work and service, including a decade at International Paper as a third shift die press operator—one of the few women in her department. She later worked in the hospitality industry as a front desk associate before retiring from Walgreens Pharmacy, where she served as a Pharmacy Technician for seven years. In her retirement, she found joy in caring for her grandchildren and expressing her creativity through crocheting, crafting handmade pieces for her family and friends.
Charisse was an avid reader and writer who found great joy in storytelling. One of her earliest works centered on five young women, reflecting her own life, as she was later blessed with five daughters whose names all begin with “J,” in honor of her beloved mother. Ree took pride in maintaining a beautiful yard and was known as a loyal friend who loved to sing, laugh, and dance. Music held a special place in her heart, and she was a devoted fan of Tupac, often reciting his lyrics with ease from memory. She enjoyed shopping, watching psychological thrillers and investigative dramas, designing and sewing original pieces, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, and spending hours on the phone with family and friends.
Charisse was the proud mother of five daughters and grandmother of eleven grandchildren—eight grandsons and three granddaughters—each of whom held a special place in her heart. She often referred to her children and grandchildren as her “Everything,” finding immense joy in witnessing their lives and accomplishments. Her love for them was boundless, and her legacy will continue to live on through each of them.
Charisse Y. Davis‑Bolden was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the age of sixty‐seven. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Johnnie Mae; husband, Allen Sr.; and uncles, James and Alexander.
She leaves to cherish her memory and honor her legacy her five daughters: Jennifer (Texas), Jonna, Jessica, Julie, and Jaymi; eleven grandchildren: DeAndre Jr., Jayda, Mark, McKenzie, Jessiah, Daniel, Leo, Jay, TreVon III, Xayon, and Rylan. She is also survived by her uncles, John (Mississippi) and Frank (Tennessee); aunt, Betty (Tennessee); and a host of extended family and dear friends.
Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will be cherished forever.
