Carolyn Marie Gordon

Carolyn Marie Gordon was born on May 13, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Charlie Mae Allen and Emmett Allen. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, church member, and friend whose life was defined by faith, family, and love.

Carolyn was a faithful member of Christ Our King Christian Church, where she served as a stewardess and secretary for Rev. Theodore Ford for the disciples of Christ for more than 20 years. She loved attending worship services, participating in church activities, and being part of her church family. Her commitment to serving others was an important part of her life.

Carolyn also dedicated 14 years of service to the Indiana Department of Administration, Public Works Division, before retiring. She took pride in her work and in the years, she spent serving the State of Indiana.

Those who knew Carolyn will remember her sassy personality, outspoken nature, and unmistakable sense of style. She loved stylish clothing and knew how to make an entrance. She was genuine and never afraid to speak her mind, yet she also had a generous spirit and a heart of gold.

She enjoyed decorating, keeping her surroundings clean and beautiful, and creating special moments with the people she loved. Above all, Carolyn treasured her family. Family gatherings brought her great joy, and she loved having her loved ones together, sharing conversation, laughter, and memories.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her children, Calita Marie Gordon and Sa'ra Maatu; grandchildren, Roshawn Maatu, Jocielle Maatu, Diano Cortez Gordon, and Dorian L. Gordon, along with Dorian's fiancée, Danijah Eldridge; and great-grandchildren, Dorian Lamar Gordon Jr. and Dariyan Rose Gordon.

She is also survived by her siblings, Vickey L. Allen, Barbara A. Barnes, Beverly Groom, and Lorriane Allen, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family, and dear friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Mae Allen and Emmett Allen, and her siblings, John L. Allen, Vernell James, and Don Louise Allen.

Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, and love. Her sassy spirit, sense of style, honesty, and generosity made her one of a kind. The memories she created and the love she gave will continue through the generations of family she leaves behind.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her earthly journey is complete and that she is resting peacefully with the Lord.
